Obituary for Elva C. Earls

Elva C. Earls went to be with her Lord on March 21, 2018, at the age of 101. She was born on October 31, 1916, in San Francisco, CA, the eleventh child in a Swedish family from Finland.

She is survived by her children, Robert Earls, of Bakersfield, CA, Elaine Korthuis-Merriam, of Marysville, and Lillian Wisner, Of Marysville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Elva is preceded in death by her eleven siblings, her husband, Ernest William Earls, and her son Eugene Earls.

Elva worked for seventeen years in the county clerk's office in Contra Costa County, retiring in 1974.

She spent many years keeping the books for the Senior Gleaners and managing part of the monthly food giveaway. She was an active member of the Nazarene church and enjoyed serving there by teaching Sunday School classes, leading the children's choir, cleaning the church facilities, and providing beautiful flower arrangements from her own yard each Sunday.

She was a talented seamstress, sewing many of her own clothes, her children's clothes, and matching outfits for her grandchildren. She also gave piano lessons to her grandkids and children in the community, donating any money earned to missions at her church.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018, at 2:00p.m. at Marysville Church of the Nazarene located on the corner of Covillaud and East 16th Street. Her son-in-law, Rev. Ray Wisner, will be officiating.
