Obituary for Kathleen M. Taylor

Kathleen Mavis Taylor, passed away July 8, 2018. She was born July 20, 1940, in New England, North Dakota, to Edward and Marie Schroeder. She was the 4th of 10 children. She spent most of her childhood in Oregon. In 1962 she moved to California and was a resident of Sutter County for 56 years residing primarily in Robbins and Rio Oso.

Kathy was a hard worker her entire life. She worked candling eggs, picking prunes and walnuts as well as working on a tomato harvester. She was a waitress, drove a rice harvester and was a home maker. The biggest job and the most important job she ever had was raising her five boys. There were times she should have been wearing a black and white striped shirt with a whistle because she had to referee those boys, but they were her pride and joy. She would always tell you she had good boys and how proud she was of all of them.

While raising her boys and working, she found time to volunteer at Robbins Elementary helping students learn to read. She also volunteered for many years at South Sutter Little League helping put on dances to fund raise money for the Robbins league and was also a part of the Women of the Moose for many years.

Kathy was known to be selfless and humble and her family was her everything. She was a protector of all and she was independent and strong. Any and all vacations would be spent visiting her siblings or camping with family. Kathy always wanted to spend time with family, and she loved it when someone came to visit. When you showed up, you would often see her sitting on the back porch in the shade drinking a cup of coffee. You could always count on her having some kind of candy dish or goodies for each and every grand kid or great grand kid when they got there. You never ever left her without getting a hug.

Family dinners were always a favorite for everyone because she was a great cook and even did a lot of baking pies and canning with friends and relatives. Her Christmas sugar cookies and fudge were the best!

Kathy was married to the love of her life, Jimmy Lloyd Taylor, Sr. Jim and Kathy were happily married on March 5, 1958, and enjoyed 60 amazing years of marriage. The two of them were inseparable. When you saw one you saw the other.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Jimmy of Rio Oso; 4 sons, Ron (Karen) of Cathey's Valley, Lloyd (Tina) of Rio Oso, Doug (Cheryl) of Folsom and Jimmy (Wendi) of Marysville; daughter-in-law, Tina of Roseville; sisters, Shirley Jones, Sandy James, Marie Glawe and Nancy Campbell; brother, Roger Schroeder; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Edward & Marie (Owen) Schroeder; 2 brothers, Richard (Dickie) & Edward Schroeder; 2 Sisters, Laverne Andrews and Marion Lamar; a Son, Dennis Taylor; and a granddaughter Tami Taylor.
