Obituary for James C. Cole

James C. Cole, of Yuba City, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017. Jim suffered from Alzheimer's for five years. He was born on December 2, 1931, in Pine Ridge, Arkansas, to Garland M. and Maudie Cole. The family moved to Live Oak, California, when Jim was a child, and he attended schools in the Live Oak school district. Jim and some friends joined the Navy their senior year, and Jim went on to become a Seabee. This is where he learned his trade as a heavy equipment operator. While serving his country, he met and married Lequitta (Trapp) Cole. They raised three children: Debra Teagarden (husband Jack) of Yuba City, Randy (wife Gayliene) of Yuba City and Steven (ex-wife Gina) of Olivehurst. Lequitta lost her battle to cancer in 1985. Jim (and many other family members, including his wife) were saved in 1981, under preaching at Bible Baptist Church, and his life was dramatically changed.

Jim worked and retired at Baldwin Contracting Company. Word has it that he was known for his skills as a loader operator.

In 1986 Jim married Joanne Bell, who had four children: Tracey Blake (husband Paul) of Yuba City, Steve Bell (deceased 1984), Kirk Bell of Sacramento, and Kristi Parker (husband Steve) of Santa Maria.

Jim and Joanne enjoyed going to church at Bible Baptist, knocking doors, passing out tracts, inviting others to church and visiting Sunday school children.

When they were not in church, they enjoyed camping, going on cruises, reading godly books and spending time with their children, grandchildren and friends.

A viewing and visitation is planned for Thursday, August 3, 2017, from 5-8pm at the Lakeside Colonial Chapel, 830 D. St., Marysville. Graveside services will be held at Sutter Cemetery on Friday, August 4, 2017, at 11am followed by a memorial service and reception at 1pm at Bible Baptist Church, 2787 N. Beale Rd., Marysville, CA. Donations are welcome to Bible Baptist Church, Bus Ministry (for the children).
